Frequently asked questions

How do I create an account?

Open GON Inspect and tap “Create account” on the sign-in screen. You will need a work email address and a name. If your company already uses GON Inspect, ask your administrator to invite you instead — that way your account is attached to your organisation and you see your own inspections straight away.

What happens when I lose network coverage?

Nothing is lost. The app is built to work offline: inspections, findings and photographs are saved on the device first. When a connection returns, the app uploads them in the background — findings first, photographs after. You can keep working the whole time. A sync indicator shows what is still waiting to upload.

A photograph will not upload. What should I do?

Photographs upload in the background and retry automatically, so a stalled upload usually resolves itself once you are on a stable connection — Wi-Fi is fastest. If a photo is still pending after that, check that the app has permission to use mobile data in your device settings, and that the device has free storage. If it remains stuck, write to us with the inspection reference and we will look at it from our side. Do not delete the app while uploads are pending: that discards anything not yet sent.

How do I delete my account and my data?

In the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete account. You will be asked to confirm. Deleting removes your account and the personal data associated with it. Inspection reports that belong to your employer stay with your employer — they are that company’s business records, not personal data of yours. You can also write to us and we will carry out the deletion for you.

Why does the app ask for camera access?

The camera is the core of the app: it photographs goods and defects and scans QR and barcodes on cartons and product tags. Both happen in the same camera view. The app does not use the camera at any other time, and it does not access your photo library unless you choose to attach an existing picture.

Where is my data stored?

On servers in the European Union. Photographs are held in EU object storage, separate from the application database. See the privacy policy for the details.

Which devices are supported?

Recent iPhone and Android devices with a working camera. The exact minimum versions are listed on the App Store and Google Play listings.

Reporting a problem

If something is broken, the following makes it much faster for us to fix:

  • what you were doing when it happened,
  • what you expected and what happened instead,
  • your device model and OS version,
  • the app version, shown in Settings → About,
  • a screenshot, if the problem is visible.

Privacy and your data
